Max Balbin
Hello, I was born in Los Angeles and have lived in the Bay Area since 2012. I reside in Pleasant Hill with my wife and son. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities with my family and reading a good book.
From a young age, I was drawn to help others, including as a lifeguard and tutor. I completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science at Saint Mary’s College of California in 2014, and I worked in that industry for seven years. This was analytical work which consisted of articulating observations and providing recommendations with attention to detail. I am proud to have made my community safer, and I consider it foundational to the work I do now.
In 2016, my dad was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, which unexpectedly cut short his working years. I watched my parents signing paperwork from a hospital room as they completed years’ worth of planning in a few months. I did not realize at the time how formative this experience would be. A few years later, my wife and I prepared to start a family. I’m grateful to say that my dad recovered, and it was a special moment when he held my son for the first time.
These experiences inspired my career pivot by opening my eyes to the need for sound financial planning when charting life’s adventures and navigating life’s challenges. I saw how a diligent and caring advisor makes all the difference because life happens while you are making other plans.
I completed a Master’s of Science in Finance from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2022. Prior to joining Pacific Excel, I started in the industry at Royal Bank of Canada Wealth Management and then Thrivent, rising from client associate to financial advisor. I am proud to have joined Pacific Excel and look forward to helping you create your financial roadmap for life.
